Learning About Yeah Episode 5:
In the Bible, there are alot of characters that did incredible things for God. But if there's one character that I aspire to be, its Jonathan son of King Saul. Out of David and Jonathan, its David that usually gets the larger share of the limelight. But throughout their friendship, it had always been Jonathan who gave, and David who received. You could say that David, being a shepherd boy, had nothing to give a prince. But then again Jonathan had more to lose. Jonathan himself was an accomplished fighter and a courageous leader. Yet Jonathan was very proud and happy of David's accomplishments. This was in stark contrast with his father King Saul who became jealous of David's growing fame and popularity and eventually attempted to kill David. But it was Jonathan who protected David from his father. Jonathan was the Crown Prince, the next in line to the throne. But he humbly recognised that David was the future King chosen by God.
By saving David's life he effectively renounced his own rightful claim to the throne and accepted the fact that he was to be David's right-hand man. Jonathan was also there to comfort and encourage David in his darkest hour. Unfortunately, as much as Jonathan loved David, he chose to stay at his father's side to the very end where they were both slain on the battlefield. I always like the tragic hero stories. But its very sad to see such a great character die in vain as King David would definitely had avoided several problems in the later part of his life, had Jonathan been there to be his second-in-command and confidant. Most amazingly, it was a friendship that lasted beyond their own lifetime, as David remembered his promise to Jonathan, and showed kindness to Jonathan's paralysed grandson. Awww......
It makes me ponder about my own friendships. Now that I'm back working in Melaka, I hardly get much chance to hang out with my friends. Most of them are not even in Melaka to begin with. So, I mostly stay connected via MSN. One thing I notice is that I compartmentalise my friends into like categories. I have my friends who I talk to about gaming/movies/fun stuff etc like Danny, Garry etc. Filbert and I usually talk about work, business and his female colleagues LOL. He's hardly online but he does call me from Indonesia, which I appreciate of course. Sometimes I talk to Immanuel, David Khoo etc about praise and worship songs. Then I have people like Jian Loong who I talk to about computer stuff: hardware/software, about how bad my blog is, and of course the occasional random nonsense. Exhibit A:Well, what do you expect from the Depressed One? Anyway then I have Yong who I talk to about football/movies/misc stuff, but obviously the topic that dominates our conversations is....yes you guessed it.....girls. Exhibit B: We were naming the girls we hung out with in a particular week. Sorry I had to censor but that is classified information. Yong is always there to soak up my emo-ness so that's the least I can do for him =P. So yea, just in case you didn't already know, I only hang out with my mum and sis. I shared this predicament with my mum and she said, "That's good wat!" Seriously, how is that any good? =.=
The last time I went out with a girl was with Su Anne to watch Transformers 2, which reminds me: I have to dedicate a post just to describe how amazingly horrible that movie was. Last but certainly not least, I have Zhou who I can talk to about virtually anything under the sky: Gaming/football/movies/life/girls/emo-ness...ANYTHING! Unfortunately he is never on MSN, and I'm too cheap to sms/call him. So I guess thats the point of blogging, so all friends from different compartments, get to see the merged side of me (hope that makes sense). Speaking of blogs, I have actually taken upon myself to read ALL the blog posts of my dear friends. So far I have finished reading Mariel and Zhou's blog posts. Yong is such a prolific blogger that I gave up half way (seriously so many posts). Mariel I know I owe you like ALOT of comments but give me some time ya? =p Zhou, what can I say, I noticed that in your posts you were going through some rough times. Sorry for being so ignorant. Truth be told I'm such a lousy friend, and in your case, brother =.= But....
Ok that's all folks. See ya next post!
P/S: Just realised for Episode 6, I have to talk about fashion =.=
