Things I Find 'Amusing'

I've been quite comfortable hiding in my shell lately, BUT FINE I'LL BLOG!

There are plenty of things people do that baffle me. I'm not being judgmental, so don't be offended if you fall under any of these categories. Just wanna give some insight into some of the things that 'amuse' me:

1. Chinese people who would rather learn more 'exotic' languages (e.g French or Japanese) rather than Mandarin (Chinese).

This also applies to people of other races that rather learn some other language than their own mother-tongue. BM is compulsory here so I won't go into that.

When I was growing up in Australia, some of the other Chinese families we knew sent their kids to Japanese classes instead of Mandarin classes as they regarded the Japanese language to be 'higher-class'. I'm really thankful that my parents made me go to Mandarin school on the weekends. 'Lower-class' or not, with China's emerging economy, Mandarin is at the very least, going to be more useful than Japanese.

French is indeed a beautiful language and I wish that I had some proficiency in it, but definitely not at the expense of learning Mandarin. Bottom-line, we should be proud of our own culture and language!

Disclaimer: Not like I speak flawless Mandarin and my Han Yu Pin Yin is a joke while I barely remember how to write my own name, but STILL...............

2. Overly health-conscious people

I think I've mentioned this countless of times on this blog but I can't help but bring it up again. Whenever people say "eh don't eat that will cause cancer" or "that thing has too much sugar" or "its so fattening", I can't help but think that I will laugh if that person dies before I do. There I said it. Wah I so evil.

3 . People who abuse the phrase "I Love You"

Its normal to see couples spamming each other's Facebook wall with lovey-dovey stuff. Even though I don't see the point of it, I can understand why. But the thing is that they butcher the phrase "I Love You" by not actually meaning it. After constantly  spamming each other's walls , many of them break up and both sides act as if nothing happened and after a while (a few weeks or at most 2-3 months) they are dating new people and spamming their new lover's wall with lovey dovey stuff again.

I've read really sweet blog dedication posts of one professing the love for the other, but the hilarious thing is just a few weeks ago he/she wrote a really sweet post for another guy/girl too. I understand that some people just move on really quickly, but this just cheapens the whole concept of love, or in the words of Bon Jovi:

THEY GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME!!!

Observing some of the youth nowadays that just got into a relationship, I can't help but laugh when I see them professing those 3 words  to each other (once again on each other's facebook wall). Do they really know what love is? Do they even know each other well enough to know whether they love each other?

Once again I hope I'm not being judgmental. Just wanna give you an insight of what goes on in my head when I see stuff  like this. This barely skims the surface though.
